My apologies for being a day late this week.
Tuesday the 3rd: Pretty Things beer and ale project is launching their newest beer, December 6th, 1855 EIP. The third in the Once Upon a Time Series, this unique ale was brewed in conjunction with beer historian Ron Pattinson. Taste the beer and meet Ron and Pretty Things owner/brewer Dann Paquette tonight at Rye House tonight from 6 to 9 pm. Read the story behind the beer here before you go. The $10 Tuesday night tasting at Jimmy’s No 43 features small breweries tonight. The following beers will be sampled beginning at 7:30 pm: Bruery Mischief, Sixpoint Triple Sweet Action, Greenport Harbor Black Duck Porter, White Birch Indulgence, Sixpoint Mad Scientist, and Bruery Rugbrod. There’s a Funkee cheese & beer tasting at dba Brooklyn tonight, as well. I haven’t been to one of Martin’s tastings yet, but this sounds like a winner: seven aggressive cheeses with seven aggressive beers. And it’s only $25! The fun begins at 7:30 pm and you can pay at the door.
Wednesday the 4th: Double Windsor in Brooklyn has a California Dreaming event tonight at 7 pm, featuring these beers:
Firestone Walker Double Jack Imperial IPA
Ballast Point Sculpin IPA
Lagunitas Undercover Shutdown Ale
Stone Oaked Arrogant Bastard
The Bruery Orchard White
Anderson Valley Hop Ottin IPA
Sierra Nevada Torpedo (cask!)
Sierra Nevada Ovila
North Coast Scrimshaw Pilsner
Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye IPA
Bear Republic Pete Brown Tribute Ale
The Blind Tiger has their next style event today, featuring one of my favorites, Saisons. Drafts go on at 3 and I think I love everything on the list, especially the Stillwater Cellar Door:
- Saison Dupont
- Urthel Saisonairre
- Greenport Harbor Spring Saison
- Bruery Saison de Lente
- Bruery Seven Grain Saison
- Pretty Things Jack D’Or
- Hill Farmstead Arthur
- Hill Farmstead Anna
- Hill Farmstead Flora
- Stillwater Cellar Door
- Stillwater Existent
- Two Gypsies Our Side
Jimmy’s No 43 has a Duck, Duck Goose Dinner tonight at 7 pm. Four courses (all ducky except dessert) will be paired with four Goose Island beers. Goose Island cellarman Brian Taylor will be hosting.
Saturday the 7th: The Amsterdam Avenue Dive Bar location is having a Kentucky Derby beer tasting today. You’ve got two options: taste seven different Founders ales for $18 or get them with food pairings for $50. The tasting starts at 3, the race at 6. Today is the American Homebrewers Association Big Brew Day. There are some local sites listed if you’re interested. I’ll likely be brewing in my backyard and the NYCHG is working on a public event. Check back later in the week for more information.
