Monday the 27th:

*The VSK (Very Special Keg) tonight at The Blind Tiger in the Village is the BFM XIV, “a free ride batch of a double Weizen with ridiculous amounts of malts and a giga hint of hops (Nelson Sauvin, East Kent Golding, Sorachi Ace…) passed through a coffee filter”, and will be tapped at 5 pm.


*Uncle Barry’s in Park Slope continues The Moot School of Beer tonight at 9 pm. Resident beerista Matt Volner will lead the tasting and discussion – $15 gets you five samples, a glass to take home and a $2 discount on all featured beers for the rest of the night.


*Jimmy’s No 43 in the East Village has a Queens Night with Rockaway Brewing and Queens County Farm Museum from 6 to 9 pm. Rockaway Brewing co-owner Marcus Burnett will be on hand to talk about his beers as well as a Queens County Museum farmer. Raffles and drink specials will benefit the museum.


SOLD OUT!!!!**Jacob’s Pickles on the Upper West Side hosts a guided Beer & Cheese Pairing with Brooklyn Brewery and Martin Johnson of Gastronomie 491 and The Joy of Cheese at 6:30 pm. Tickets are only $10 with all proceeds going to the West Side Campaign Against Hunger. The beers:

*Fourth Avenue Pub in Park Slope is tapping a keg of the Lagunitas Fusion 9 at 7 pm. This White IPA, brewed by Fourth Ave owner Kirk Struble, Stag’s Head owner Carolyn Pincus and local homebrew star Kyler Serfass, “brewed with roughly half Northwestern Pale Malt, half Wheat Malt & Flaked Oats. Dosed with two varieties of experimental hops from Washington State’s Perrault Farms including HBC-342 (codename “Watermelon Jolly Rancher”) and a clandestine “Ghost Hop” so secret that they have not dared to name it!”


*The Porterhouse at Fraunces Tavern in the Financial District hosts a free tasting of Troegs beers tonight from 6 to 8 pm.


Wednesday the 29th:

*The $10 Tasting at Idle Hands in the East Village features Harpoon. $10 at the bar between 7 & 10 pm gets you: full pours of Harpoon UFO Pumpkin & Rich and Dan’s Rye IPA, samples of Harpoon Pumpkin Cider, Ginger Wheat & Octoberfest, a taste of bourbon TBD and an order of Tater Tots from That Burger with specially made dipping sauce made with a Harpoon beer.


**The Stag’s Head in Midtown East hosts a Barrier event beginning at 6 pm. Free food at 6 along with 13 Barrier taps, including these:

*George Keeley on the Upper West Side has a Bill Murray Can Party Here!!! tonight beginning at 6 pm. Drafts from Allagash, Flying Dog, Hitachino, Troegs, Elysian and BFM will relate to Bill Murray movies. Stop by and see if the legend is true – if you have a party, Bill Murray will crash it.


**West 3rd Common in the Village hosts a Weyerbacher Beer Dinner tonight at 7 pm. Please call 212-529-2059 for a reservation. No menu but past beer dinner menus have been very impressive.


*Stout in Midtown West hosts the Bronx Brewery tonight from 5 to 7. From 5-6 pm, the Bronx guys will take questions on beer via Twitter and Facebook. From 6-7pm, drop by for a Bronx Pale Ale and chat with Head Brewer Damian.


**Mudville 9 in Tribeca has a Victory event – seven taps are promised from 7 to 9 pm.


**(added 8/28) Double Windsor in Windsor Terrace hosts a Dog Days of Summer event featuring beers from Lagunitas and Flying Dog. Taps up at 7 pm & all event taps are only $5:

*The Thursday Tap at Jimmy’s No 43 in the East Village is the Freigeist Abraxxxas, a 6% ABV (smoky) Berliner Weisse, and will be tapped at 5 pm.


*The Brooklyn Historical Society in Brooklyn Heights hosts a Brooklyn Brewery Beer Garden Day from 6 to 8 pm. Stop by for Brooklyn Brewery beers, goodies from Sigmund Pretzels and live music from Sarah Dooley.


*Cooper’s Craft & Kitchen in the East Village has a Bronx Brewery event tonight from 6 to 9 pm.


*Manchester Pub in Midtown East has a Colorado Showdown tonight beginning at 7 pm with beers from Breckenridge, Great Divide & Left Hand. The list:

*Pig Island returns to Governors Island from 11:30 am to 4 pm today. 80 pigs will be cooked by 25 of NYC’s best chefs plus Sixpoint beers, a biscuit throwdown, wine & cider offerings, music & more. Tickets range from $70 to $115 and are available here.


Sunday the 2nd:

*Sunday PicNYC on Governors Island from 11:30 am to 4 pm. Food trucks, Sixpoint beers, live music & more. $20 tickets gets you admission plus 3 beers and/or wines, food will be available for purchase.

September 8: Barrels & Kegs comes to Rockaway Beach today from noon to 5 pm. Tickets are $28 and net you 20 4-oz beer samples from local breweries. Food & additional tastes available for purchase.


September 15: Freaktoberfest moves to Greenwood Park in South Park Slope this year from noon to 5 pm. This festival is always a ton of fun and I’m sure this year will be no different. Tickets are $60 and get you access to lots of craft beer, live music, and freak show & burlesque performances.


September 22: Josh Bernstein is throwing a Homebrew Hullabaloo to celebrate the 3rd Anniversary of his homebrew tours at Goodbye Blue Monday in Bushwick from 2 to 6 pm. Tickets are $30 and entitle you to excellent homebrews, a plate of food, music & more.


October 6: The Village Voice brings Brooklyn Pour back to Skylight One Hanson in Fort Greene today. Two sessions, from 1 to 4 and 6-9, with $65 VIP and $45 GA ticket options. Over 100+ beers will be poured during the event, VIP ticket holders also get complimentary food, exclusive drinks and a gift bag. Food will be available for purchase as well.
