Saturday the 25th:

As part of Get Real Beer, I’m helping put on aPORKalypse Now today at the 404 space in Hell’s Kitchen. This festival is going to be fun – 17 pigs and 5 suckling pigs prepared by 13 different chefs and a ton of killer craft beer.  The pork dishes are too numerous to list, but to whet your palate, Chef Greg Johnson from Rye House is creating ‘Pig Pickin’ with a cocoa & chili rub and mopped with a Chocolate Stout and Bourbon wash.  We’ll also have a few beer seminars, local homebrews and wine. Two sessions: noon – 4 pm and 6-10 pm (with VIP only first hour of each).  I’ll post the full beer list as soon as I get it but there’s going to be some very special stuff poured – can’t wait!  (disclaimer:  I’m a committee member & investor in Get Real Beer)

If I wasn’t setting up aPORKalypse this morning, I would be at the Brooklyn Brewery for Mary’s Maple Brewery Brunch. Between 10 am and 1 pm, $35 nets you this menu:

  • unlimited Belgian waffles from Wafels & Dinges topped with Mary’s own maple syrup
  • bacon
  • free-flowing taps of Mary’s Maple Porter & other Brooklyn Brewery beers
  • bottomless cups of coffee from Brooklyn Roasting Company

Get your tickets at the brewery (ahead of time, this could sell out) or here.
